Amazon Prime membership scams are unexpected emails, calls, and texts from impersonators that often refer to an unauthorized charge for membership or notice of membership expiration. They ask you to verify your account by providing personal or payment information.
What to watch out for?
Scammers might send fake email such as the one below, attachments and say you are being charged a costly fee. Even if the fee looks correct, it may be a scam. They have also been know to send text messages or call you on the phone.
How can you avoid being scammed?
- Never click on the links in the email.
- Do not click the “Load Content Directly” button in Apple Mail.
- Visit the Message Center on Amazon.com or the Amazon.com app to review authentic emails from Amazon.
- To verify your Prime membership status, authorize payments, or make changes to your billing and account information, log into your Amazon account, and go to Your Account.
- Amazon Customer Service is available 24/7 to help with any questions you may have.
